Demetri was home. It had seemed like such a long time since he'd been home, and been happy to be there. The last time he had been home had been the day he and Isaac had reclaimed Safira from Isabelle. Now, after all that, he was coming home. He'd gotten the okay to take leave off of work the rest of the year. For three months, he'd be home, taking care of his wife, doting on her until their precious child was born. He was ecstatic to walk in the door and find Safira. It was early, but she'd no doubt be up.
Demetri opened up the door, laying his enchanted briefcase and his coat on the couch, intending on taking care of them later. He looked around cheerfully, smiling. Then, he examined every room downstairs. Determining that Safira was probably still in the bedroom, he trudged up the stairs. Coming to the door, he gently pushed it open.

Safira twitched lightly in her sleep, as Aurora was growing bigger her poor mother was requiring more and more rest throughout the day. She often went to bed early in the evening, slept well past her usual rising time, and took naps in the afternoon. When she heard the sound of the door Safira woke instantly and struggled a bit to sit up because of the size of her belly. "Demetri!" Safira breathed, relieved that he was there. Under normal circumstances she might have gotten up to greet him, but it required more effort than she would like, so she simply gestured for him to join her on the bed.

Demetri smiled at Safira, glad that she was happy. He went around to the side of the bed she wasn't already occupied and crawled in next to her. He leaned over, kissing her cheek delicately, wrapping one arm around her. The other went to her stomach, where he placed a hand atop it. Aurora, seemingly sensing her father, kicked his hand, and he laughed, happy for once.

Safira leaned her head against her husband's chest, momentarily shoving any thoughts about her imprisoned brother out of her head. Isaac was strong, he would be okay. But it had been nearly three months now, she was still worried about him. "I'm so tired of being pregnant," Safira sighed, resting her hand on top of her husband's. She was thankful that her due daate was quickly approaching, Aurora could come any day now.

Demetri smiled, snuggling close to Safira. "I know, love. She's coming soon, I can feel it," he replied, smiling. Aurora emphasized his point with another light blow to his hand. "She's going to be so beautiful. Just like her mum. And brave, just like her uncle," he said softly, his smile faltering a bit at the mention of his brother-in-law. He cleared his throat, kissing Safira apologetically on her cheek. "I love you Safira. Everyday, forever."

Tears came to Safira's eyes even at the mention of Issac, it didn't take much to make her cry these days, what with her hormones going absolutely crazy. "I love you too," Safira said, allowing her husband to hold her. That was what she needed at that moment, to be held and comforted. Of course, she might have been more content if Isaac weren't prisoner and Aurora was in her arms instead of inside her, but there wasn't much of anything she could do but wait. Wait for the Order to find her brother, wait for Aurora to be ready to be born, wait.

Demetri smiled gently, holding his wife gently. It was hard to imagine she was still his, after all of this. He loved her, had found his better half. He was happy. But, at the same time, he wasn't. Demetri was disappointed in himself. "Safira," he started, taking her chin delicately in his hand, turning her to face him. He leaned his forehead against hers. "Nothing bad will happen to you, ever, ever again. And I'm going to save Isaac. I promise," he said quietly.

At her husband's words the tears finally spilled down her cheeks. Safira was actuaally surprised that she had held out that long, usually at any slight being upset she would be bawling. But she held back her sobs, allowing only quiet tears forward. She gently placed her hand on the side of Demetri's face. "You know you can't promise that nothing bad will happen," Safira said quietly, her voice almost a whisper, "but I know you'll find Isaac. I have faith in you." She closed her eyes, trying to stop the flow of tears.

Demetri held his wife gently. "You know I can promise that nothing bad will happen when I'm near. I will never let anyone harm you without giving them a fight myself," he insisted quietly. He wiped Safira's tears with his thumb. Vaguely, he began to wonder when it was that Aurora would come. She was due anyday. Having Aurora would definitely improve Safira's happiness.

Safira laid her head against Demetri's chest, keeping quiet, his very presence soothing her. She listened to the sound of his heart beating, the air coming and going from his lungs as he breathed. In her mind, Safira quietly figured out that Aurora would be due in less than a week, she hoped the baby would come soon- if she became more than a day overdue she would take up Raychel's offer on finding someone to induce labour. "Demetri," Safira said quietly once she had managed to stop her tears, "let's wait a few years before thinking about having more children."
